Abstract

The health-care wastes (HCW) represents a challenge for the animal and human health service providers, in function of the risk and the needing for a differentiated handling when compared to the urban solid residues. In function of the broad range of products and services, the analytic laboratories generate a spectrum concerning the risk nature and rank. The main objective of this document is to provide basic coming for monitoring through the performance indicators. Steps here defined for designing a monitored model to reduce the generation of waste, to minimize environmental impacts, to reduce accidents and to assist the administrators in managing the financial resources. This research could contribute to a critical analysis of the HCW, providing consistent data, which are important for decision making at tactical and operational levels.
