Abstract

The authors effected a serological survey to estimate the incidence of leptospiroses among the rice-field workers of the valley of the Paraíba River. Serum samples from 208 individuals were tested, positivity being found in three cases only: two for L. canicola and one for L. australis B. Thus, the occurrence of "rice-field fever" was not observed among the rice-field workers of the region where this survey was made.
