Abstract

In this paper the author studies a new specie fossil wood, Dadoxylon roxoi, n. sp., occurring in the Estrada Nova formation. The fossil was found at Jacutinga, municipality of Guarei (State of São Paulo). The author discusses the characters that distinguish it from other species already studied in Brazil, especially D. nummularium white also of the Estrada Nova. The paper ends with a comparative table dealing with the principal characters of eight araucarian woods of Brazil. The microscopical preparations were made by the nitrocellulose peel method.
